FAQs - Frequently asked questions

The following are questions people ask us about Ann-On-Hols apartments and staying in Puerto Mogan. In the pages about the apartments we try to tell you what the apartments are like and what is included. Here, amongst other things, you can find out some of the things that are not included.

Is there a swimming pool?
Not one of our own. You can be sure we would have told you about it if there was! There is a pool and sunbathing area at the Varadero restaurant about 100m from the harbourside apartments.

About 5km away at Taurito (that's by road - if you swim it would be just over 1km!) is a magnificent lido with a circuit of linked pools and a waterslide.
Would we have access to a roof terrace?
Sorry, none of the apartments have roof terraces. The harbour-side apartments have their own own gardens, the cliffside apartment has a small terrace with views over the sea and a small private courtyard.
Do you have Sky television?
No, and anyway, you're meant to be on holiday! Some local bars have Sky and show the big European and British football matches and other sporting events.
Can we drink the tap water?
If you like, but it is quite highly chlorinated and not very palatable - OK for cleaning teeth. It doesn't make a good cup of tea either! You won't go thirsty though, as we leave a bottle of water in the fridge for when you arrive.
How do I get from the airport to Puerto Mogan?
Car: If you're hiring a car follow the signs for "Sur" (south) onto the GC-1, the main road alongside the airport, which becomes motorway within a few hundred metres. When you get to the end of the motorway follow signs for Mogan, but be sure to turn left when you get to the petrol station in Playa Mogan, or you'll end up in Mogan, a few kilometres up the valley.

Bus: There is a bus stop at the side of the GC-1 at which you can catch the 91 (quick) or the 01 (very slow). The 91 terminates at Playa del Cura so you'll need to catch any of the other buses that go through there from the same stop that you alight at. Cases need to be put in the luggage compartment under the bus, which on newer buses are opened remotely by the driver.

Taxi: The taxi rank is immediately outside the arrivals hall.

Private hire/minibus: Arrange in advance from one of the companies that specialise in airport transfers such as Las Casillas Bus, where Chris will be pleased to make all your arrangements for the journeys to and from the airport.
Where can I park my hire car?
There is free on-street parking around the fishing harbour and the area behind the beach (Playa Mogan). In addition there is pay-and-display parking by the apartments along Explanada de Castillete (the other side is reserved for locals) and an underground car-park close to the beach.

On Thursday evening we suggest you move your car to the area behind the beach or the underground car park, as if it is parked along by the harbour or in most of Explanada de Castillete it will be towed away to make room for the Friday market.
Will my mobile phone work while I'm in Gran Canaria?
It should do if you have arranged for roaming for Spain. Reception can be poor in places. If you have pay-as-you-go mobile, make sure you have enough credit on it before you set off as you may not be able to top it up while you're here (you may be able to set up buying credit over the internet or by credit card). AND DON'T FORGET YOUR CHARGER!
